Why are we building Elements?

Games should elevate us

As avid gamers, we spend much of our time playing, often without yielding personal growth. Yet, it does not has to be this way. Certain games unfold captivating stories that transcend mere entertainment; they teach us invaluable life lessons. A meticulously crafted story with timeless wisdom can be the first step to reshape our lives.

We should own our games

Most games are created by big studios and those worlds are never really ours. As players, we don’t have a say in the story or if the gameplay changes. Our ambition is to disrupt this paradigm, by rebalancing the incentives and giving power back to the players. Own YOUR game, amplify your voice, take an active role in its course.

The Elements Vision

Stories are our best way to share what we know, since the dawn of time. When we tell a good story, it’s engaging and we remember it better than raw facts. It opens our mind and makes it easier to understand abstract concepts. We can all learn a lot from each other, individually, and the best way to do it is through stories.

We are building a game to surface those stories that are inside each of us. We want to make it easy and rewarding to tell them, in a way that is immersive, fun, and challenging. Through the game, we will be able to share our personal learnings and experience, helping others, while being rewarded for it. We are all rich in our experiences, let’s share them with others.

Introducing Collaborative World Building.

The way we are building this world is a bit like a castle. It’s a daunting task and you need to be a little crazy to get started. As an architect starts the project, the Elements team gives general directions and cohesive structure, but anyone can contribute with what they know. Stories are like stones, and every stone counts. Teams of builders collaborate to find the best way, find the right stones, bring them to the construction site and arrange them.

In the same spirit, anyone is free to come and contribute to the history of Elements: come with your own stories, make them fit with adjacent ones, thread them with others to build a consistent world. A world in which you distilled some parts of you, a world that becomes a bit like you, YOUR world.

The Path to Collaborative World Building

The card game sets the frame for the world of Elements. It will be extended by the Elements Team WITH the Players.

The stories will be played through Adventures. Those will be successions of fast-paced games, mixed with narrative parts where players will need to make impactful choices, influencing how their deck will evolve through the Adventure.

We will create a platform to allow anyone to create their own Adventures, by customizing:
  • Narration
  • Each Adventure opponent and its deck
  • Player Choices: influencing which cards would be added/removed from the player deck as the Adventure unfolds

Creators will be able to define unique custom cards for their stories. Anyone is free to create their monsters, items, spells and quests.

Through a rating system, the best stories will become lore and gain influence in the community, inciting others to build on top of them. Creators will earn rewards proportionally to the success their story.
